Automated Pre-Op Instructions

A typical surgery center usually encounters cancellations, patients who require immediate operations, and patients who did not follow the preparation instructions properly. This creates costly gaps in the center’s schedule, as well as expensive delays. ClientTell Lab can help you avoid these problems.

A typical routine involves the patient arriving at the center for a preoperative discussion with the surgical assistant. At that time the patient is given a mountain of information to remember, including handouts and possibly the date and exact time of the surgery. Hopefully everything will go as planned. However, quite often the patient forgets a lot of the information, loses the handouts, or the surgical scheduler has to change the scheduled times to accommodate cancellations or immediate needs. This results in the surgery center receiving multiple calls from nervous patients wanting a refresher concerning their information or the center playing phone-tag trying to reach a patient to let them know the schedule has changed.

Using ClientTell’s Lab service the surgery center’s method of reaching patients with updates and post-op instructions is replaced with a single phone call the evening before the surgery.

The process is quite simple. At the preoperative appointment, the surgical assistant simply gives the patient a Patient Access Card and tells the patient to call the toll-free number the evening before surgery for the latest updates as to the exact time, location, and other surgical instructions. The center may also record information prior to the evening before the surgery reminding the patients to call the evening before to see if there are any new changes.

Using ClientTell the center is flexible in scheduling and updating until the night before the surgery. This reduces calls from nervous patients who have lost their information, eliminates phone tag, and gives patients or care-givers the ability to listen repeatedly to the information at no charge to the surgery center.
